SANTA BARBARA COUNTY  |  SANTA MARIA VALLEY AVA

Our 2021 Late Harvest Viognier comes from the Bien Nacido Vineyard in Santa Maria Valley. Extended hang-time gave us beautifully dehydrated fruit, perfect for this dessert wine. Richly flavored, with dried apricot, guava, and crème brulee, this wine is balanced with candied orange peel undertones. Finishes long and clean with bright citrus notes. Drink on its own, with sharp blue cheeses, or with equally tempting desserts such as lemon panna cota or salted caramel budino.

2017 Late Harvest Viognier, Bien Nacido Vineyard

Wine Advocate  91 Points ~ The 2017 Viognier Late Harvest Bien Nacido Vineyard is gregariously scented of ginger, honeycomb, pineapple soufflé, peach cobbler, and honeysuckle. Full-bodied, rich and fully sweet, it gives up tons of honeyed tropical fruits with just enough freshness to counter all that richness, finishing sticky and sweet. The price listed is for a 375-milliliter bottle. Drink date: 2019-2025. — Erin Brooks

Vinous  92 Points ~ The 2017 Viognier Late Harvest Bien Nacido Vineyard is a very pretty dessert wine laced with tangerine peel, hazelnut, dried flowers, chamomile, and spice. Light on its feet and absolutely charming, the 2017 has so much to offer. The 125 grams of residual sugar are impeccably balanced. (375 ml) Drink 2019-2025. — Antonio Galloni

2014 Late Harvest Viognier, Bien Nacido Vineyard

Vinous  94 Points ~ The 2014 Viognier Late Harvest Bien Nacido Vineyard is sublime. The mid-October pick yielded a super-expressive Viognier laced with the essence of apricot jam, orange blossoms, chamomile, honey, and vanillin. Gracious and utterly impeccable, the 2014 will drink well for at least another handful of years.

Wine Advocate  94 Points ~ Readers shouldn’t miss the 2014 Viognier Late Harvest from this team. Coming all from the Bien Nacido Vineyard and harvested on the 21st of October, it was aged 18 months in 50% new French oak and there are just under 100 cases (375 ml bottles) made. Giving up gorgeous notes of honeyed fruits, caramelized peach, and browned butter, this sweetly fruited, rich, decadent and full-bodied dessert wine is impeccably balanced, has lots of sweetness and a big finish. It will be hard to beat paired with a fruit tart or other sweet dessert.

Wine Enthusiast  90 Points ~ Concentrated aromas of honey, golden raisin, date, jasmine, and fig are lifted by a nutty walnut component that adds intrigue on the late harvest bottling. The viscous sip grabs hold of attention immediately, with buoyant and bright acidity holding up the honey and raisin flavors.
