2020 Roussanne, Stolpman Vineyard

BALLARD CANYON AVA | SANTA BARBARA COUNTY
The 2020 Roussanne shows aromatics of jasmine, spice and melon. Richly textured on the palate, flavors include honeysuckle, white peach and lemon curd. Full-bodied and complex, finishes long and clean, with balanced, mouth-watering acidity. Our Roussanne has a history of aging gracefully and should develop more honey and nutty characteristics over time.
Reviews
Wine Enthusiast 91 points ~ Crushed stone, tangerine pith, white flower, peach, and a hint of lanolin show on the layered nose of this bottling. There's a stony minerality and firm tension to the palate where dried apple and pear flavors ride a sizzling acidity into a vanilla-inflected finish. — Matt Kettmann
Jeb Dunnuck 90 points ~ Honeyed stone fruits, acacia flowers, chalky minerality and some almond paste notes emerge from the 2020 Roussanne Stolpman Vineyard, a nicely balanced, medium-bodied pure, classic expression of the variety that will shine on the dinner table. It was brought up mostly in neutral oak. — Jeb Dunnuck
2019 Roussanne, Stolpman Vineyard
Wine Enthusiast 90 Points ~ Very restrained on the nose, this bottling shyly offers seared lemon-rind, toasted cashew and sea-salt aromas. The palate combines lemon and banana-pith flavors, wrapped in a waxy texture with an ashy, chalky minerality. — Matt Kettmann
Jeb Dunnuck 91 Points ~ More subdued and inward (which is common for this variety), the 2019 Roussanne Stolpman Vineyard offers ample orchard fruits and dried hay/savory herb notes in its medium-bodied, nicely balanced, textured, classic profile. It shows more quince and ripe, honeyed fruits with time in the glass and will shine on the dinner table. — Jeb Dunnuck
2018 Roussanne, Stolpman Vineyard
Jeb Dunnuck 93 Points ~ The 2018 Roussanne Stolpman is less aromatic (which is common for this variety) yet offers beautiful richness and depth, with honeyed stone fruits and spice, medium to full body, beautiful balance, and a great finish. It's another winner. — Jeb Dunnuck
Vinous 93 Points ~ The 2018 Roussanne Stolpman Vineyard is another superb white from Jaffurs. Rich and creamy, the 2018 exudes class. Savory herbs, orchard fruit, dried flowers and sage give the 2018 layers of complexity to match its phenolic feel. Drinking window 2020-2025. — Antonio Galloni.
2017 Roussanne, Stolpman Vineyard
Jeb Dunnuck 92 Points ~ Similarly colored and aged 10 months in 17% new oak, the 2017 Roussanne Stolpman Vineyard offers a richer, more opulent style. White currants, lemon butter, honeysuckle, and toasted bread notes all emerge from this rounded, beautifully textured, layered white. It has plenty of richness yet stays fresh and lively. It's another beautiful white from this estate. Maturity 2019-2024. — Jeb Dunnuck
