2016 Petite Sirah, Thompson Vineyard
LOS ALAMOS VALLEY | SANTA BARBARA COUNTY
The 2016 Petite Sirah maintains darkness, power, and purity of fruit. The cool vineyard site led to long hang time, giving us ripe tannins and balanced natural acidity. With an inky-purple hue and monolithic stature, this wine displays blackberry, tar and mocha. Our Petite Sirah ages slowly and can be cellared for some time. However, ample primary fruit and silky tannins allow for early enjoyment as well.

Wine Enthusiast 93 Points EDITOR’S CHOICE
Though younger than most current Petite Sirah releases, this bottling impresses wildly with fragrant boysenberries and crushed lavender on the nose, proving to be a floral-driven style that’s not beaten down by richness or ripeness, despite the higher alcohol level that doesn’t show at all. Insane amounts of cracked white and black pepper meet with toasted sesame seeds, tart boysenberries and more lavender on the palate. — M.K.
Wine Advocate 92 Points
A big, rich, concentrated, yet elegant and balanced expression of the variety, the inky colored 2014 Petite Sirah Thompson Vineyard has tons of ripe blackberry, plum, mint and sappy herbs in its full-bodied, focused and pure profile. It should keep for a decade or more. — J.D.
Vinous 95 Points
One of the many highlights in this range, the 2014 Petite Sirah Thompson Vineyard is another superb wine from Jaffurs. Here it is the wine’s inner sweetness and perfume that stand out most. The firm Petite tannins are present, but they are nearly buried by the sheer voluptuousness of the fruit. Sweet red and blueberry jam, wild roses and a bit of sweetness from the 20% new oak barrels comes through nicely. — A.G.
