Coming from the cool southern side of the Sta Rita Hills, the wine has layers of tannin and saline acidity to structure the wine. Powerful red fruits (raspberry, strawberry) dominate the aroma, while the subtler savory components of baking spices and underbrush come through in the palate. A lush mid-palate coats the mouth with soft tannins from the whole cluster use. Aged two years in French oak barrels before bottling, the wine has a structure meant for aging 6-10 years minimum.
